Benefits for Youth Climate Court Trial Organizers
Benefits for the organizers
Besides the benefits a trial will have for local governments and besides the benefits to fighting the climate crisis, the experience of organizing and conducting a Youth Climate Court trial will also have benefits for the young people who do this work. They will:
- learn how courts work
- learn how to plan out a persuasive argument and present it publicly
- learn how to organize a creative project
- learn how local governments work
- gain experience in how to interact with government officials
- effect real change in real government policies and actions
- help fight the climate crisis
- make new friends
- have tons of fun working on an important and worthwhile project with friends
That adds up to a lot of valuable learning. If this project were done as an independent study project it could earn academic credit as well.
